Zepto's vendor model is deliberately curated rather than open — there's no self-serve seller signup like Amazon or Flipkart. If you're a brand evaluating Zepto as a sales channel, the two things to plan for are a longer approval timeline than other marketplaces, and a GST compliance question (multi-state warehouse registration) that doesn't come up with single-warehouse marketplace selling.
What Makes Zepto's Onboarding Different
Every Zepto supplier goes through a detailed verification and category approval process — there's no instant path from application to going live. Registration establishes eligibility to sell; the separate vendor onboarding stage establishes commercial terms and how your products are actually stocked and supplied into Zepto's dark stores. Treat these as two distinct steps, not one form submission.
Documents You'll Need
- GST registration certificate
- PAN card
- Cancelled cheque (for bank account verification)
- FSSAI license, for food and grocery categories
- Brand authorization letter, if applicable
You'll also submit your legal entity name, GSTIN, registered address, and a primary contact person's details as part of the application — Zepto validates all of this against GST records, so make sure your legal entity name matches exactly across every document.
Registration and Onboarding: Step by Step
- Apply for Zepto vendor registration, submitting your business and GST details.
- Submit required documents — GST certificate, PAN, bank verification, and category-specific licenses.
- Go through category approval — Zepto's team reviews your product category, brand, and commercial fit.
- Negotiate commercial terms — commission structure, minimum order quantities, and supply commitments are discussed and agreed during this stage, not fixed in advance.
- Complete vendor onboarding to finalise how your products are stocked into and supplied from Zepto's dark stores.
Registration alone can take 10–15 working days, but the full category and commercial review typically runs 30–45 days — the longest stage of the process. Plan for 6–8 weeks from first application to going live.
GST and the Dark-Store Question
Zepto, like Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, fulfils orders from dark stores spread across multiple cities and states. Under GST law, each dark store you supply into is a separate Additional Place of Business (APOB) that has to be added to your GSTIN in that state — it's not a fresh registration, but it is a compliance step that doesn't come up if you're only selling through a single-warehouse Amazon FBA-style setup. Skipping it risks invoicing errors and blocked ITC at that location. See our quick-commerce GST and dark-store registration guide for the full process, including regulatory changes currently under discussion to simplify multi-location GST updates for quick-commerce operators.
Planning Ahead During the Long Review Window
Zepto's 30–45 day commercial review gives you time to model your numbers before you're locked into a category and commission rate. Use the Marketplace Profit Calculator to compare a prospective Zepto commission against your existing Amazon/Flipkart/Meesho margins, and the GST Calculator to double-check the GST arithmetic on whatever commission structure the Category team proposes. If you'll be supplying dark stores in more than one state, use the wait to get your APOB registrations sorted in parallel rather than scrambling once approval comes through.
Getting Started
If you're not GST-registered yet, start there — see our GST registration guide. Given Zepto's longer review cycle, it's worth having your documentation (legal entity name consistent everywhere, FSSAI if applicable, brand authorization) fully in order before you apply, since inconsistencies are one of the most common causes of delay.
