How to Sell on Swiggy Instamart: Seller Registration Guide (2026)

Swiggy Instamart is one of the strictest quick-commerce platforms on GST compliance — there's no scaled-down registration path for smaller sellers, unlike Meesho's Enrolment ID option. If you're planning to sell through Instamart, your GST setup needs to be in order before you start, and it needs to account for every warehouse location Instamart stocks your product from.

GST Requirements — No Shortcuts

Full GST registration is mandatory for every Instamart seller, regardless of turnover. There's no Composition Scheme option and no Enrolment ID pathway — both routes some other marketplaces offer to smaller or unregistered sellers. Your GST registration certificate needs to be active with correct HSN codes for every product category you list, and if you supply from multiple cities, you'll need APOB (Additional Place of Business) registrations for each supply state — see the GST and dark-store section below.

Every document you submit — GST certificate, PAN, brand authorization — must show the exact same legal entity name, including punctuation, abbreviations, and spacing. Mismatches here are one of the most common causes of onboarding delay.

Onboarding: Step by Step

  1. Apply through Instamart's seller/vendor channel, submitting business and GST details.
  2. Submit documentation — active GST certificate with correct HSN codes, PAN, bank details, and FSSAI license where applicable.
  3. Go through category and commercial approval, where commission and supply terms are finalised.
  4. Register APOBs for each state where Instamart's dark stores will stock your product.
  5. Go live once documentation, category approval, and APOB updates are complete.

The full process typically takes 15–25 business days from initial contact to going live.

Commission, Fees, and Settlement

Instamart earns through a commission of roughly 15–25% depending on category, plus 18% GST on that commission. On top of commission, expect inwarding charges, storage fees, and other operational deductions reflected in your settlement.

Payouts settle on a weekly or bi-monthly cycle, and Instamart's seller portal provides a line-by-line settlement report — gross sales, commission, storage/handling deductions, promotional deductions, return credits, and net payout — so reconciling your GST returns against actual settlements is more traceable than platforms offering only a lump-sum payout figure.

The Multi-State GST Requirement

Instamart, like Blinkit and Zepto, fulfils orders from a network of dark stores across cities. Each warehouse you supply into counts as an Additional Place of Business (APOB) under GST law, and must be added to your GSTIN in that state before goods can legally move through it. This is a materially different compliance load than registering GST for a single Amazon FBA warehouse — see our quick-commerce GST and dark-store registration guide for the full process and the current regulatory discussion on simplifying it.

Checking Your Numbers Before You Commit

At 15–25% commission plus 18% GST on top, Instamart's take rate sits closer to Amazon/Flipkart territory than Meesho's zero-commission model — run your category and price point through the Marketplace Profit Calculator to see where Instamart actually lands versus your existing channels, and use the GST Calculator to verify the GST math on your settlement reports each cycle.

Getting Started

If you're not yet GST-registered, that's the first step — see our GST registration guide. Since Instamart has zero tolerance for unregistered sellers or documentation mismatches, get your legal entity name, HSN codes, and APOB registrations aligned before you apply rather than fixing them mid-onboarding.
