Quick Commerce Festive 2026: What It Means for Sellers and Brands

Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart are extending their networks into Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns ahead of the festive season, according to Business Standard. This is a summary of what has been reported, not a forecast of our own.

What changed

  • Bigger festive pool. Datum Intelligence projects festive online sales of up to ₹1,55,000 crore, up as much as 29% from ₹1,20,000 crore in 2025.
  • Quick commerce's share is rising. It is expected to account for about 16% of festive sales (roughly ₹24,000 crore), up from 12% last year.
  • Wider shopper base. The festive online shopper base could rise from about 138 million to 158 million, and grocery is projected to overtake mobiles as the second-largest online category.

Who it affects

  • Grocery, beauty, personal care and small-ticket sellers are the categories quick commerce serves best. Bulky, high-ticket or made-to-order items are not.
  • Marketplace-only sellers may see some festive demand shift to 10–30 minute delivery for impulse and gifting purchases.
  • Sellers in smaller towns could get new demand as dark stores open there.

What a seller should do

  1. Don't treat quick commerce as an automatic add-on. Listing usually means supplying stock to the platform's dark stores, and the platform's terms decide margins and payment timelines. Read them before committing inventory.
  2. Check GST on the stock movement. Dark-store supply can trigger registration and invoicing questions; see quick commerce GST and dark store registration.
  3. Protect working capital. Festive stocking ties up cash. Run the numbers in the marketplace profit calculator before adding a channel.
  4. Finish your marketplace prep first. Amazon and Flipkart changed their fees this month; see seller fee changes for festive 2026 and the festive season selling guide.

Projections are estimates and may be revised.
