How to interpret your result

Your net payout is what actually lands in your bank account — Amazon's selling price minus referral fee, closing fee, and shipping charges, minus the 18% GST charged on those fees, minus 0.5% TCS.

Don't read the GST line as money you lose — it's charged on Amazon's fees, not your revenue, and it's generally available as Input Tax Credit once the invoice shows up in your GSTR-2B. The 0.5% TCS isn't a cost either; it's an advance credit you claim back against your GST liability in GSTR-3B.

If the resulting margin looks thin, run the same product through the Marketplace Profit Calculator to compare Amazon against Flipkart and Meesho before deciding where to list a SKU.

What this calculator shows

Enter your selling price, category, and product cost to see exactly how much Amazon deducts before you get paid — referral fee, closing fee, shipping, 18% GST on all of those fees, and 0.5% TCS — plus your resulting profit margin.

GST on Amazon seller fees

Amazon charges 18% GST on every fee it bills you: referral fee, closing fee, and Easy Ship shipping charges. This isn't a cost you can avoid — but it is generally ITC-eligible, meaning you can claim it back against your output GST liability, provided the invoice shows up in your GSTR-2B. See our GSTR-2A vs GSTR-2B guide for how that reconciliation works.

TCS on Amazon

Separately, Amazon deducts 0.5% TCS under GST from your net sale value and deposits it against your GSTIN monthly. This is a prepaid tax credit, not a fee — you can offset it against your GST liability or claim it as a refund. See our TCS refund guide for the claim process.

Sources and assumptions

  • Fees: referral, closing and Easy Ship rates are representative defaults based on Amazon's seller fee schedule, including the 0% referral fee on items under ₹1,000 from 16 March 2026. Closing fee is modelled at ₹5–₹50 by price band; Easy Ship at ₹35 for the first 500 g plus ₹15 per extra 500 g. Your actual fees depend on sub-category, weight, delivery zone and fulfilment channel (Easy Ship, FBA or Self Ship) — confirm with the fee preview in Seller Central before you set a price.
  • GST on fees: 18%, as billed on Amazon's monthly tax invoice.
  • TCS: 0.5% under Section 52 of the CGST Act (rate in force since 10 July 2024). The calculator applies it to the full selling price; the legal base is the taxable value excluding GST, so your actual TCS is slightly lower.
  • Not included: the 0.1% Section 194O income-tax TDS the platform also deducts (estimate it with the 194O TDS calculator), advertising, storage, and return-shipping costs.
