How to Become a Meesho Seller in 2026
Meesho remains one of India's largest marketplaces by seller count, built on a two-sided model that made it genuinely different from Amazon and Flipkart: Suppliers who list and fulfil products, and Resellers who promote those products on WhatsApp and social media without holding any inventory themselves. This guide covers the Supplier registration process — the route for anyone who manufactures, stocks, or wholesales products and wants to sell directly.
Eligibility Criteria
Before you register, you'll need:
- A GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) — mandatory for all e-commerce marketplace sellers regardless of turnover.
- A bank account in your business or proprietorship name for payment settlement.
- Product inventory or manufacturing capability — Meesho supports categories from apparel and home goods to electronics accessories and beauty products.
If you don't have a GSTIN yet, see our GST registration guide — most sellers get registered within a week.
Supplier Registration: Step by Step
- Visit the Meesho Supplier Panel and click Register.
- Enter your business mobile number — this becomes your primary account identifier. Verify it with the OTP sent to your phone.
- Set up your account — enter your email address and create a password.
- Provide your GSTIN. Meesho validates this against GST records before activating your seller account.
- Add bank account details for payout settlement — this must match your GST-registered business name.
- Fill in business details — business name, store display name, and pickup address for shipping.
- Select your product category and upload your first catalogue using Meesho's downloadable template (product name, description, price, images, size/variant details).
- Submit for review. Most accounts are activated within a few business days once GSTIN and bank details are verified.
Commission, Fees, and Payouts
Meesho's cost structure has evolved since its early "0% commission" positioning. Suppliers today typically pay a category-wise commission percentage plus a fixed shipping/logistics fee per order — both deducted automatically from your payout rather than billed separately. There is no upfront listing fee or monthly subscription to sell on Meesho, which keeps the barrier to entry low compared to platforms that charge fixed seller fees regardless of sales.
Payouts are typically settled 7–15 days after delivery confirmation, directly to your linked bank account. As with other marketplaces, Meesho also deducts 1% TCS under GST and TDS under Section 194O from your payouts — both of which you can claim back through your GST returns and ITR respectively. See our guides on claiming your TCS refund and claiming TDS credit in your ITR.
Meesho Franchise vs. Reseller vs. Supplier — What's the Difference?
This is one of the most common points of confusion for people researching Meesho.
There is no Meesho franchise model. Meesho doesn't license its brand name or operate physical storefronts that third parties can franchise — it's a marketplace app, not a retail chain.
What Meesho does offer are two distinct ways to participate:
| Meesho Supplier | Meesho Reseller | |
|---|---|---|
| Holds inventory | ✓ Yes | ✗ No |
| Needs GSTIN | ✓ Yes | ✗ Not required for typical reselling volumes |
| Lists products directly on Meesho | ✓ Yes | ✗ Browses Supplier catalogue instead |
| Sells via WhatsApp/Instagram | Optional | ✓ Primary channel |
| Earns | Sale price minus commission & fees | Margin added on top of Supplier's listed price |
| Upfront cost | None | None |
If you're a manufacturer, wholesaler, or brand owner with your own stock, register as a Supplier — that's what this guide covers. If you want to earn a margin reselling other people's products without holding inventory or registering for GST, the Reseller app is the simpler starting point, and many resellers eventually graduate to becoming Suppliers once they've validated demand.
Growing Beyond Meesho
Most sellers who start on Meesho eventually expand to Flipkart and Amazon once they've validated a product-market fit. Our Guide to Selling Online in India covers platform comparisons, GST compliance, logistics partners, and payment gateway setup across all major marketplaces. Use the Marketplace Profit Calculator to compare your actual margin after commission, shipping, and GST across Meesho, Amazon, and Flipkart before you decide where to focus.
